In Ewsca, our cashmere yarn is hand combed from each individual goat in the spring. As the weather warms, the undercoat begins to shed. Hand combing is the process which allows for the separation of the finest combings from coarser combings and leaves the goat with its guard hairs intact, providing better protection from wind and rain. Diverse weather conditions of hot and cold climates along with elevation and herding traditions are ideal for the production of the longest and finest cashmere.

In preparing our raw materials, we seek to eliminate the middlemen and word in close proximity to the hardworking herders who dedicate from generation to generation all they have to keeping their livestock. We believe this approach is important as it is the only way to ensure sustainably having the best high-quality raw materials.
